Consecration

TO OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE

Day One

Those wishing to read a transcript for the video reflection will find this text and other supplementary reading at the bottom of this page.

We begin our nine-day novena by examining how Our Lady called St. Juan Diego, and how our Lord calls us today into deeper relationship with Him and with His Mother.

Day Two

Those wishing to read a transcript for the video reflection will find this text and other supplementary reading at the bottom of this page.

Our Lady has many messengers, but she makes it clear that each of us has a role to play in God's plan for us. When struggles come, we must persevere in faith, knowing that even in our imperfections we have the opportunity to glorify God.

Day Three

Those wishing to read a transcript for the video reflection will find this text and other supplementary reading at the bottom of this page.

We cannot be hypocrites, especially when it comes to living our Faith. We are called to live with honesty and integrity, so that the joy of life in Christ draws others to Christ.

Day Four

"Am I not here, I who am your mother?" (Nican Mopohua, 119) These words were a source of great comfort and wonder to Saint Juan Diego all those years ago, and they are a source of courage for us today. We must never let the anxieties of the world distract us from the work to which Our Lord has called us.

Day Five

Those wishing to read a transcript for the video reflection will find this text and other supplementary reading at the bottom of this page.

We reflect, today, on Saint Juan Diego's obedience to Our Lady's mission, and on the miracle of Our Lady's image on the tilma that Our Lord gifted us.

Day Six

Those wishing to read a transcript for the video reflection will find this text and other supplementary reading at the bottom of this page.

The miraculous image of Our Lady on the tilma continues to draw us closer to Christ, inviting us into a stronger relationship with Our Lord, present in the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. We are called to make sacred little houses (cf. Nican Mopohua, 26) in our homes and in our hearts.

Day Seven

Those wishing to read a transcript for the video reflection will find this text and other supplementary reading at the bottom of this page.

We encounter the sacred in holy places—in churches, at Mass, on pilgrimage, and in prayer. But we are also called to carry the sacred into our daily life. Our lives must bear witness to the truth of Christ's presence in us.

Day Eight

Those wishing to read a transcript for the video reflection will find this text and other supplementary reading at the bottom of this page.

Saint Juan Diego spent the final years of his life telling the story of Our Lady's apparitions. Through his cooperation in Our Lady's Plan, which is true and total surrender to Divine Providence, Saint Juan Diego helped to bring countless souls to Christ. We, too, are called to bear this same witness.

Day Nine

Those wishing to read a transcript for the video reflection will find this text and other supplementary reading at the bottom of this page.

Why does Our Lady ask us to visit her in her "sacred little house" (Nican Mopohua, 26)? Our Lady knows that we need to leave the ordinary cares of the day-to-day behind on occasion to visit a sacred place so that, in an extraordinary way, she can draw our hearts into deeper union with the Sacred Heart of her Divine Son, Jesus.

Let us pray.

‍O Virgin Mother of God, we fly to your protection and beg your intercession against the darkness and sin which ever more envelop the world and menace the Church. Your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, gave you to us as our mother as He died on the Cross for our salvation. So too, in 1531, when darkness and sin beset us, He sent you, as Our Lady of Guadalupe, on Tepeyac to lead us to Him Who alone is our light and our salvation.

Through your apparitions on Tepeyac and your abiding presence with us on the miraculous mantle of your messenger, Saint Juan Diego, millions of souls converted to faith in your Divine Son. Through this novena and our consecration to you, we humbly implore your intercession for our daily conversion of life to Him and the conversion of millions more who do not yet believe in Him. In our homes and in our nation, lead us to Him Who alone wins the victory over sin and darkness in us and in the world.

Unite our hearts to your Immaculate Heart so that they may find their true and lasting home in the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Ever guide us along the pilgrimage of life to our eternal home with Him. So may our hearts, one with yours, always trust in God's promise of salvation, in His never-failing mercy toward all who turn to Him with a humble and contrite heart. Through this novena and our consecration to you, O Virgin of Guadalupe, lead all souls in America and throughout the world to your Divine Son in Whose name we pray. Amen.
